Relax and Unwind with a Luxury Short Break in Cornwall
Sometimes you just long to get away for a few days. Away from routine, away from the same four walls, away from the constant barrage of emails and phone calls.
Just a few days away to recharge the batteries. Somewhere you can enjoy a complete change of scenery. Breathe in some fresh sea air. And, most importantly, switch off and spend some quality time together.
Interestingly, research has shown that taking more frequent, shorter breaks can be better for your physical and mental well-being than taking one longer holiday. And since anticipation is half the pleasure, it makes sense that several short breaks spread throughout the year will bring you more happiness. And that’s got to be a good thing!
Cornwall is the ideal destination for a short break. There’ stunning scenery, fresh sea air and amazing food and drink. Plus it’s surprisingly easy to get to, being well connected by road, rail and air.
So if you fancy booking a luxury short break in Cornwall to give yourselves something to look forward to, here are just a few ideas…

A few ideas for a Luxury Short Break
Short Walking Breaks
The North Cornwall stretch of the South West Coast Path is just a short drive away, whilst the south coast is just a 30 minute drive. Every section is breathtakingly beautiful, with hidden coves and pretty fishing villages around every headland. In contrast, Bodmin Moor is wild and rugged. Its twin granite peaks of Roughtor and Brown Willy are just waiting to be conquered. Rest and refuel at a traditional cosy pub or cafe. Or treat yourself to a slap-up meal at one of the many fine dining restaurants nearby. After all that exercise, you’ll have earned it! Hot showers or baths await back at your cosy cottage, after which you can enjoy an evening by the fire planning the next day’s adventure.
Short Breaks for Young Families
Make the most of not being tied to term times whilst you can with a mid-week, mid-term short break. You’ll find family attractions such as Camel Creek Adventure Park and Lappa Valley much quieter. And you’ll have acres of sandy beach to yourselves for building sandcastles and exploring rockpools. Back at the farm, toddlers love saying hello to the animals before heading indoors armed with a warm fresh egg for their tea. We have lots of handy baby and toddler equipment available to make life easy. So you can just escape for a few days without having to spend hours packing the car as though you’re embarking on a major expedition (yes, we’ve been there).
Long Weekends for Food Lovers
North Cornwall is one of the UK’s food capitals. It’s the ideal place to spend a long weekend sampling top-notch food and drink. Nearby is Port Isaac, home to Nathan Outlaw’s two bucket-list restaurants. At Padstow you’ll have Rick Stein’s excellent restaurants to choose from, as well as three from Michelin-starred chef Paul Ainsworth. And the St Tudy Inn, listed in the Good Food Guide and holding a Michelin Bib-Gourmand, is just 2 miles from your cottage. It’s not all about the food though. There are also award-winning vineyards, orchards and craft distilleries nearby where you can take a tour and even bottle your own to take home.
Celebrate Special Occasions
North Cornwall is made for special celebrations, whether you’re celebrating a birthday, an anniversary or a mini-moon. And, if you’re looking for a romantic (and insta-worthy) spot to pop the question, the rugged and romantic coastline is the perfect backdrop. Enjoy long walks across breathtaking scenery and watch sunsets on the beach. Visit award-winning vineyards and sample some of the finest food and drink in the country. Romantic evenings can be spent in your cosy cottage. Draw the curtains, light the fire and hunker down with a delicious Rick Stein at Home meal for two, a bottle of Camel Valley sparkling wine and a box-set on Netflix. Cheers!
Activity Weekends with Teenagers
Take advantage of any inset days to get your teenager away from the screen and out into the fresh air for a long weekend of activities. Take them surfing at Polzeath. Or SUP, coasteering and kayaking at Port Gaverne. Cycle along the Camel Trail, or enjoy mountain biking at Lanhydrock. Or go all Game of Thrones with an afternoon of archery and axe throwing. Back at your cottage, gather round the firepit to toast marshmallows and relive the day’s adventures. With a bit of luck they may not even notice they’v got Netflix and ultra fast wifi in their cottage.
Short Breaks for Garden Lovers
Spring comes early to Cornwall, so it’s the perfect time to enjoy a short break visiting some of the magnificent sub-tropical gardens of Cornwall. Lanhydrock, Pencarrow, Pinetum, Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Caerhays and Hidden Valley Gardens are all within easy reach. And you can break up your journey to or from Cornwall with a visit to RHS Rosemoor in North Devon.
